Evelyn A. Jennings, 91, returned to her heavenly home on April 13, 2016 after suffering a major stroke. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God ultimately gave her peace.
Evelyn was born to the late Agnes Kruse and Louis Volkmar, in St Louis, MO on December 6, 1924. She graduated from Beaumont High School, St Louis in January 1943.
Evelyn was blessed with a loving family. She married Fred Jennings; on January 27, 1945 in St Louis, MO. Evelyn gave birth to two children and raised them with patience, discipline and humility.
She went out doing what she loved at 91, working out! She won national titles, qualifying for the Boston Marathon, being named Orlando’s female athlete of the year and had rooms full with trophies, medals and plaques. These are all good for stories and goals, but in the end, you can’t take them with you. This is not the end but a dot in eternity, and we trust the Lord for the timing of when we will all be together again.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Fred; her son Stephen Jennings and his wife Mary; her daughter Sharon (Jennings) Snyder and her husband, Michael; her grandchildren Joel Jennings, Ruth (Jennings) Bozeman, Timothy Jennings, Jonathan Seidel and Lisa (Seidel) Wagner; and her great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Baue Funeral Home in St Charles, MO and burial at the Frieden’s Cemetery. Her son, Pastor Stephen Jennings, will officiate the service. If you wish to make a donation, please send to Lutheran Hour or Hospice.
