Edward Randall Neff

January 24, 1929 — April 10, 2021

Edward Randall Neff, of Defiance, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the age of 92.  Loving husband of 56 years to the late Joan Marie Neff; beloved son of the late Mary and Walter Neff; devoted father of Deborah Ann (Olin) Eldridge, the late Linda Marie Neff, the late Edward Charles Neff, the late Cheryl Lynn (Brian survives) Hough; cherished grandfather of Christopher (Emi) Bockoven, Jamie (Eloy) Olivarez, Erin Bockoven, Lindsay (Raymond) LeDoux, Kaitlyn Hough, Zachary (Kelsey Wade) Hough, and Patrick Hough; treasured great-grandfather of Makenna, Aden, Noah, Kevin, and Justin; dear brother-in-law of Newell Allebach; and dearest uncle of Jeff Allebach and Janet Daring.

Edward proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1949. He continued to serve in the United States Navy Reserves until March of 1956.  Edward married Joan on November 12th of 1955, and she was the love of his life. They created a beautiful family together that they nourished with love and support for one another.

Edward was a design engineer and through his career he worked for Kohlman, Buhl Inc., Ingersoll Rand, Stanley/Mac Tools, and St. Louis Pneumatic. He designed air tools and held several patents for them.  He continued consulting for various companies even after retirement since he loved building and creating so much.

Edward was an avid model railroader in HO & O gauge model railroading. He was a classic car buff, and he still owned his 1966 Chrysler 300 that he restored with his son, Edward.  He and Joan enjoyed traveling to all the car shows in Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, Colorado and of course the local shows around Missouri.

Edward loved to laugh, he had a good sense of humor, and he liked telling and hearing jokes. He loved working with his hands, and was considered a hands-on guy.  He also taught his kids all about the steam engine railroads and always looked forward to riding the rails.  Edward was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Edward's name to Siteman Cancer Center.
