Edward J. Griesenauer, Sr.

Griesenauer, Sr., Edward J., of O’Fallon, MO, died Monday, November 14, 2016, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Lois E. Griesenauer; cherished son of the late Edward D. and Hilda Griesenauer; devoted father of Edward J. (Stephanie) Griesenauer, Jr., Laura (Gregg) Garrison, and the late Carolyn Jean Griesenauer; loving grandfather of Elaine (Erik) Lentz, Carolyn (Michael) Holden, Edward Griesenauer III, Robert Swink, Adrienne Griesenauer, and Alicia (Andrew) Bennett; treasured great-grandfather of Brianna, Dylan, Collin, and Avery; and dear brother of Ralph (Doris) Griesenauer and Jim Griesenauer. He was a beloved uncle, Godfather, and friend to many. He was also preceded in death by his five other brothers.

Edward proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Returning from the war, he joined his brothers in managing his family’s business, The O’Fallon Garage and Massey-Ferguson Dealership. Edward was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church, O’Fallon Knights of Columbus Council # 2269, and O’Fallon American Legion Post 388. Edward was very active in his community as a member on various boards. He served 17 years as an Alderman for the City of O’Fallon, and nine years as the Mayor. In his later years, he volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital in Lake Saint Louis, MO. He was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for Masses or the Alzheimer’s Association.
