Dorrace Louise Boyd
August 4, 1923 — December 23, 2020
Dorrace Louise Boyd of Saint Peters, MO, passed away at the age of 97 on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. She is survived by her daughters, Katharine (the Late James) Jennings, Susan Boyd (Harry) Dillard, and Laura (Gaetano) Alagna; her grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Hostetler, Claire (Scott) Will, Simon (Cammi) Jennings, Ben (Angela) Alagna, Adam Alagna, and Nora (Ryan) Morris; and her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Liam, Lauren, Colin, Evelyn, Henry, Madeline, Edison, and Autumn.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill E. Boyd; her parents, Mathias and Fannie Junk; and three brothers.
Dorrace was a personable and sweet woman and her strong, dauntless personality was the rock her family relied upon. During World War II, Dorrace worked at the defense plant where she was a true Rosie the Riveter every day. She was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily and found peace and purpose through her faith. An avid fan of sports in general, Dorrace had a special love for her St. Louis Cardinals and gave them a lifetime of support.
Her family was her entire world and the things she enjoyed doing always seemed to be for their benefit. Whether it was her sewing projects where she would gift her wonderful creations to her loved ones or baking in the kitchen and feeding her family delicious confectionary treats, Dorrace always put her family first and took care of them no matter what. Dorrace also wrote beautiful poetry and, more often than not, the poems were about the people closest to her in life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorrace’s name may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Private services will be held December 29, 2020. Public services will be held at a later date.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Baue Funeral Homes does require all family members and guests to wear a mask while visiting our facilities. Social distancing is required, and guests should stay at least 6 feet apart. Thank you for your understanding.
