Dorothy M. Jeffus

Dorothy M. (Scott) Jeffus formerly of Ottumwa, IA passed away May 17, 2019 at her daughters home in Saint Charles, MO.  She was born November 20, 1928 in Gering, NE to Herbert and Garnet (Phelps) Scott.  At age 2 she and her brother went to live with their parental grandparents Clarence and Phoebe Scott in Palisade, NE after their mother and baby sister were killed in a car accident.




On February 28, 1950 she married Alton W. “Wayne” Jeffus, Jr. in Trenton, NE.  He preceded her in death on October 29, 1983.   They lived in Herndon, KS, Norton, KS and Ottumwa, IA.  Three children were born of this union, Stephen who passed hours after birth, A.W. “Jeff” Jeffus, III, and Carole.   In 2007 she moved to Saint Charles, MO to live with her daughter and son-in-law.




She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, baby sister, infant son, husband, brother Robert (Bob) Scott and half brothers, Kenneth, Ed and Jerry Scott.




She is survived by her children A.W. “Jeff” (Linda) Jeffus of West Des Moines IA,  daughter Carole (Greg) Goodwin of Saint Charles MO, three Granddaughters, Brooke Jeffus of West Des Moines IA, Kim (Justin) Kirby of Des Moines IA and Kristen (Rob Geisinger) Goodwin of Saint Louis MO.  Three half brothers Jack Scott (Terri) of Snyder CO , Rich (Jeanette) and Mike Scott of Fort Lupton, CO,  two half sisters Beverly James of Brush, CO and Janet Rosenfield of Rosehill, CO, a cousin, Ron Scott of McCook, NE, many nieces, nephews and friends.




Funeral arrangements have been handled by Baue Funeral & Memorial Center in Saint Charles, MO and a private service for immediate family will be held later.  She will join her late husband in a columbarium niche at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, IA.  Memorials can be made to Heartland  Hospice in Wentzville, MO, American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
