Dorothy “Dottie” Breiding

January 14, 1927 — July 7, 2021

Dorothy R. Breiding (nee Dorothy Ruth Dieckmann), of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Frederick Herbert Breiding, III; cherished daughter of the late Robert and Louise Dieckmann. Devoted mother of Elise (George) McCoubrie, Rick (Norma) Breiding, IV, Tim Breiding, and Valerie (Patrick) Barclay; loving grandmother of Jason (Noelle) Breiding, Tim (Caridad) Breiding, Philip (Jessica) Breiding, Allison Barclay, Joshua Barclay, and the late Sarah Barclay; treasured great-grandmother of Eli, Mila, Jessiah, Austin, Jacob, Liam, and Emma; dear sister of Robert (Donna) Dieckmann, Lela Bradtke, and Esther (Robert) Negwer; many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and adored the cardinal bird itself. She had quite the collection of birds showing that. She enjoyed hiking in the mountains, especially Rocky Mountain National Park. It did not take her long to realize that that was her favorite place to go to. Dorothy enjoyed puzzles and games in general in her free time.

Growing up in the time frame that Dorothy did, she learned at a young age to work hard for the things she had and wanted in life. School was something she was passionate about and often did not stop working until she received those well-deserved A+ grades in the gradebook. She grew a love for reading, learning, and working throughout it all. Dorothy worked along side of her brother-in-law, Bob, at Negwer Materials from 1969 until she reached retirement in 1992. Dorothy did many different jobs including, payroll and book keeping.

Dorothy especially enjoyed spending time with her family and deeply cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren who were very near and dear to her heart. Dorothy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Dorothy's name to Zion Lutheran Church.
