Doris Marie Patton was born September 25, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri; the first child of Robert and Goldie (Colvis) Stadler. She married Luke Urban Patton and they were blessed with five children: JoAnn and (Jerry) Hill, Madonna and (Melvin) Wortmann, Linda and the late Larry Wilmes, Patrick and (Maureen) Patton, and Brian and (Lisa) Patton. She has twelve grandchildren: Jason Hill, Julie Merriott, Kelly Bishop, Kim Emge, Kara Villier, Matthew Wilmes, Brett Wilmes, Sarah Meredith, Christine Wilmes, Shannon Norton, Richard Patton, and Laureen Patton. She would live to enjoy seventeen great-grandchildren: Aaron Ziegemeier; Zach Merriott; Kelsey Hill; Ryan, Aaron, and Rachael Bishop; Dylan and Logan Emge; Jersey and Navy Villier; Olivia Wilmes; Lucas, Aubrey, and Jonas Meredith; Ayden and Canyon Leavell; and Sophie Lyn Norton. She is also survived by her siblings: Fern and (Rowan) Raftery; Elsie Skrivan; Robert Sadler; Marian and (Tom) Thoman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandchild, Adam Wilmes; two great-grandchildren Bryan Merriott, and Andrew Bishop; her son-in-law, Lawrence Wilmes; and sister-in-law, Patricia Stadler.
She enjoyed music, reading, gardening and needlework. She embroidered quilt tops for each of her twelve grandchildren. She was completing a quilt for each of her seventeen great-grandchildren. She was a life-long political activist and proud member of the St. Charles County Republican Club. She worked at the polls for many years in St. Charles county. She was so proud to declare that she had never missed voting in an election, until her health prohibited her participation. She shared her love of gardening with family and friends, and had quite a green thumb!
Memorials may be made to Masses at Assumption Catholic Church, O’Fallon or Alzheimer’s Association
