David D. Owens

September 8, 1940 — October 2, 2019

David D. Owens, of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the age of 79. Loving husband of 59 years to Owana M. Owens; beloved son of the late Alvie, Sr. and Elsie Owens; devoted father of Dawn (Tim) Wolf and Danya (Mitch) Galatioto; cherished grandfather of December (Ben Hall) Wolf and Shelby Galatioto; treasured great-grandfather of Shiloh Wolf, Kalil Wolf, Gilead Wolf, and Aemon Wolf; dear brother of Audrelee Robinson, Shirley Maune, Charlotte Anderson, Alvie (Jackie) Owens, Jr., and Tim (Brenda) Owens.  David was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert Owens, Donald Owens; and infant sister, Jerine Owens.

David proudly served his country in the United States AirForce.  He retired from McDonnell Douglas/Boeing after more than 36 years as a machinist, and a union member of the IAM-Machinist Local #837A.

David truly enjoyed the outdoors, and going hunting, fishing, and camping.  He was a member of the Arch Eagles Camping Club and Elks Lodge #2587.  Every summer he went camping with his family at Greers Ferry Lake, as well as other campsites throughout the country.  In retirement, he and his wife wintered in Texas, and he would fish in the Rio Grande while there.

David was an avid bowler at O’Fallon Bowl and Frontier Bowling Lanes.  He loved bowling so much that he even joined a league in Mission, TX when they would travel there to spend the winter.

David was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan and never missed a game.  In past years, he and his wife enjoyed watching live country music and would go to the Kiel to watch performances.  David was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in David 's name to the American Cancer Society, Elks Lodge 2587 in O'Fallon MO, and Alzheimer's Association.
