Danny Ray Hessel

Danny Ray Hessel of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the age of 69.   Loving husband of 49 years to Karen L. Hessel; devoted father of Tiffany (Gary) Smith and Bridget (Benjamin Jr.) Sutphin; cherished grandfather of Benjamin C. Sutphin III, Jacob Sutphin, Danny Sutphin, Stephen Smith, Tucker Sutphin, Jenna Smith, Charles Sutphin, and Delaney Sutphin; and dear brother of Emily (the late Frank) Pogue, Patricia (Richard) Pierce, and brother-in-law of Carol Hessel.  Danny was preceded in death by his parents, William and Norma Hessel and brother, William Hessel.

Danny proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He dedicated many long years, fueled by his love of automobiles, as a Diesel Mechanic for Kenworth of St. Louis.  He was also a member of the NTBA National and St. Louis Chapters.

He was a member of Church of the Shepherd.  As a true and faithful servant, he enjoyed taking care of friends, and spoiling his family.

Danny was known to have a bit of a sweet tooth, always having Gummy Bears, York Peppermint Patties, and Black Licorice Nibs on hand for family and friends, or even the strangers he met wherever he went.  He loved spending time with his family, and looked forward to supporting his grandkids at their sporting and scout events.  Danny was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial contributions may be made in Danny's name to Spina Bifida of Greater St. Louis or Church of the Shepherd (Oasis Food Pantry).
