Charles Wayne Rawlings

February 10, 1931 — June 21, 2018

Charles Wayne Rawlings (also known as Charlie, Chuck, and Wayne), was born in Alto Pass, IL on February 10, 1931. He was an only child; his parents, Ford and Ruby Rawlings, were farmers and truckers.

Chuck graduated from Alto Pass High School in 1949. He served in the US air force from 1951- 1955, state side as well as South Korea and Japan. His last assignment was at Westover Air Force Base in Chiopee, MA.

Chuck graduated from Parks Aeronautical College in Cahokia, IL where he studied to get his aircraft and Power Plant license. He was employed as a licensed aircraft technician for Ozark Airlines for twenty-five years and TWA. He retired in 1993.

He met Anne on a blind date and they were married December 31, 1955 in North Amherst, MA. Chuck and Anne’s home was in Florissant, MO. They were married 62 years. Their children are Rebecca (Joe) Elsberry, MO and David (Melissa) Saint Charles, MO. They each have two boys, Andy, Ben, Nick and Jonathan. Ethan is their great grandchild.

Chuck enjoyed fixing all things, boating, bicycles riding, camping, stock car races, tractor pulls and traveling by air and land. He liked to read his Bible and magazines and was an active member of First Christian Church of Florissant. He served as 2nd Vice Commander of the Korean War Veteran’s Association, Chapter 4.

Chuck also leaves his beloved step sister, Maretta Alley, Murphysboro, IL, beloved cousins, in-laws and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church of Florissant, Korean War Veteran’s Association, Chapter 4, and Special Olympics of Missouri.

Chuck passed away at his home under the care of Seasons Hospice, peacefully and surrounded by his wife, children and grand/great grandchildren. He gratefully thanks Seasons Hospice for their care and support.
