Kneemiller, Calvin, of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at the age of 92. Calvin was born September 13, 1924 to Theodore and Meta nee Feldman of St. Charles, MO.
On February 8, 1947 he married the late Phyllis Sebacher of St. Charles, MO. They were happily married for 63 years.
He retired from State Farm Insurance Company in 1988. He was one of the area’s first Auto Estimators, when he was hired in 1968. Calvin also worked at Valley Ford as an auto body repairman.
Calvin proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. He received a purple heart for injuries suffered during action at the Battle of the Buldge. Calvin was one of only 6 to survive from his patrol of 48 soldiers.
For over 25 years Calvin helped the poor and less fortunate by collecting monthly for the Daily World Missionaries. He had a deep-rooted desire to help the less fortunate especially the children of Haiti where Calvin and Phyllis would sponsor children who they would consider an extended part of the family.
Calvin is survived by 3 brothers Lloyd, Jackie and Daniel Kneemiller, all of St. Charles County, children, Carol (Ronald) Lock of St. Paul, MO, Bill Kneemiller of Davenport, IA, Susan (Merritt) Peterson of Dardenne Prairie, Bob (Elaine) Kneemiller of St. Charles, MO and Marcy (Mike) Tribley of O’Fallon, MO as well as 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Calvin was also preceded in death by his sisters Mary Ellen Buerhle, Lucille Trask, and Betty Weber.
Calvin’s family would like to send a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Missouri Veterans Home for the special care he received for the last 3 ½ years especially to his lead nurse Caroline and to Melissa with Kindred Hospice for the special care provided the last few months.
An American Legion Post 312 Service will take place at 6pm followed by a Scripture Vigil Service Led by Rev. Bill Kneemiller at 6:45
