Betty VanDover (nee Kavanagh), of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018, at the age of 88. She was the beloved daughter of the late Hermit and Orillia Kavanagh. Betty married the love of her life, Virgil L. VanDover, on January 21, 1950, they celebrated 68 years together before his death in January 2018; She was the devoted mother of Linda Uptegrove (Michael), Gail McWilliams, Patricia Luisi (Michael), Joan Johnston (Perry Rollins), Kevin VanDover (Nelly), and Krissy VanDover; cherished mother-in-law of Margaret Sheridan; proud grandmother of Shannon, Jake, Tracy, Ashly, Matt, Mitchell, Maria, Olivia, Greg, Lee, Shane, Loren, and Emily; treasured great-grandmother of 12; cherished sister of Daryl Kavanagh (the late Joan), the late Patricia Morice (Rob), the late Marie Garrett (Jim), and the late Hermit Kavanagh (Marge); and dear sister-in-law of Howard VanDover (Cheryl). She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Betty was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband and family. Betty was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
