Bette E. Porter (nee: Littrell), of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Monday, February 27, 2017, at the age of 90. Bette was the loving wife of Robert E. Porter; beloved daughter of the late Earl and Irene Littrell; devoted mother of Mike (Peggy) Porter, Susan (Bob) Schneider, Dave (Jan) Porter, and Paul (Diane) Porter; cherished grandmother of Sarah (Daniel) Hodges, Stephen Schneider, Katie (Ben) Mattern, Daniel Schneider, Ryan Porter, Megan (Robert) Brayfield, Jake Porter, and Zach (Kristen) Robinson; treasured great-grandmother of eight; and dear sister-in-law of Dr. George Groce. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Irene Littrell; and her sister, Jane Groce.
Bette graduated from Lindenwood College with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology, and earned a number of credits toward a Master’s degree at Webster University. She worked as Social Worker for the Division of Family Services and as a Home School Coordinator for the St. Charles School District for many years, and retired in 1986. Bette was very involved in her church activities, she loved playing cards and was a member of four Bridge clubs. She also enjoyed dancing, traveling, and cooking. Above all else, she took the most joy from serving her family. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
