Bernard L. “Bernie” Lewandowski, of Saint Charles, Missouri, was fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, and he passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the age of 68. Cherished son of the late Bernard Jr., and Dorothy Lewandowski; dear cousin, nephew, and friend to many.
Bernie retired from St. Louis County after more than 35 years as a Librarian. He was an avid sports fan, and he enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, SLU Billikens, and football. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf. He also organized and played softball in the 1980s for the Jennings Police Department team.
Bernie was a very dedicated son who took care of his parents in their later years. In the kindness of his character, he started the organization “Friends of Priests” in June 2003, to show care and support to the priests in the St. Louis Archdiocese.
Bernie also loved attending the musicals and plays at the theater throughout the year. As an enthusiast of nature, he was a member of the Missouri Botanical Garden and always looked forward to visiting the gardens and exhibits.
The family would like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to the caregivers, nurses, and doctors who watched over and cared for Bernie in his home for the last few years of his life. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
