Barbara C. Champagne (nee: Crawford) of Saint Charles, Missouri.
Barbara died on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the age of 79, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church. Her death was untimely, as every death is because of sudden illness. She met death with courage, strength, and faith. Her husband and all of her children were gathered with her at the end.
Barbara was a loving wife and devoted partner of 63 years to Richard "Dick" Champagne. She was an incomparable mother to six children -- Richard A. (Susan Blesener) Champagne, Jr., Gregory S. (Cheri) Champagne, Mitchell P. (Christine) Champagne, Mark C. (Angela) Champagne, Brannon N. (Stacy) Champagne, and Christin (James) Prather. Barbara was blessed with 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by all of her sisters -- Sherry Ferguson, Claire Smith, and Desiree Devereaux. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Eugene Crawford and Maureen Devereaux.
Barbara was raised in a small town in Mississippi, left at an early age to attend and graduate from college, married her husband, and then lived and traveled all over the world. She lived in France and Germany and throughout the American South before finally making her home in Saint Charles in 1973. Barbara's six children were her joy and her world. She was involved in their education and all of their activities, encouraging each of them to find their passion and excel at it. Barbara was an avid reader and followed her children's lives through social media. She was the center of her family.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her husband and family and all who knew her.
