Nature Silver & Gold Coach Trip!
This week our Silver & Gold Club had our first coach trip of the new year! We toured at Tree House Wild Life Sanctuary, dined at Wittmond Hotel, and explored the National Great Rivers Museum sponsored by Cedarhurst Assisted Living and Memory Care!
Tree House Wild Life Sanctuary
We enjoyed a guided tour of the non-profit center dedicated to the rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife and the education of environmental awareness. Since 1979 professionals and volunteers have been striving to care for every type of wildlife until they can go back into the wild. We saw these animals up close and personal. It was quite interesting as well as entertaining to see these creatures!
Lunch at Wittmond Hotel
After our tour of the Tree House Wild Life Sanctuary, we crossed the river on the Brussels Ferry going into the charming town of Brussels. Here, we stepped back in time at the Wittmond Hotel. We dined family-style all home-cooked foods. Our menu was: Relish Tray, Sausage, Fried Chicken, Roast Beef, Dumplings, Mashed Potatoes, with Gravy, Corn, Green Beans, Slaw, Rolls, and a choice of Cobbler. It was quite a delectable meal!
The National Great Rivers Museum
Last but not least, we took a visit to the National Great Rivers Museum! We had the opportunity to enjoy the many exhibits about the rivers, how they flow, and the lock and dam system. We watched a brief video on eagles and how important the National Conservation has been to our National Bird taking it off the endangered species list.
It was a blast on this nature-focused coach trip! We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events! Visit here to learn more!
