Baue was honored to be part of the funeral service for Jane Doe West Alton, a young girl previously buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in 1968 after her murder investigation. Read more about her story here. The cold case investigation reopened in 2015 where Jane Doe, then known as “Unidentified Female” was disinterred for closer testing by a local medical examiner.
On November 4, 2016 Jane Doe West Alton was given a dignified service for her final resting place at Oak Grove Cemetery where the City of St. Charles donated a grave and memorial for her. Additionally, Baue, Parkview Gardens of St. Charles County, and Wish Upon a Dove of St. Louis County made donations for flowers, a casket, and a dove release as well.
A gathering was held at Baue Cave Springs along with Graveside services at Oak Grove Cemetery that was attended by Mayor Sally Faith and the St. Charles County Police Department along with several members of our community.
St. Charles County Detective, Stephanie Fisk is an investigator in Jane’s case and assisted in the arrangements for her final tribute service. Detective Fisk said, “Jane deserved to be respected today… she’s deserved it for 48 years and we are happy that she is receiving this service that honors her life. Because Jane is still unidentified, we have placed the title ‘Blessed Child of the St. Charles County Police Department’ on her donated marker. We’ve adopted her, and she’s our family now.” As the service came to a close, officers said their final goodbyes in the form of a wish as doves were released in Jane’s honor. Detective Fisk also stated her department has “adopted Jane who is now part of our police family and can finally be at rest.”
