Richard G. Schuppan, D.Ed, of Saint Charles, MO, died on Friday, May 13, 2016, at the age of 79. Loving husband of Theresa J. Schuppan; beloved son of the late Herman Kendrick and Myrtle Schuppan; dear step-son of the late Martin J. Schuppan, Sr. and Bea Kendrick; devoted father of Timothy R. (Ronnie) Schuppan, Jonathan M. (Mary Halloran) Schuppan, Lesa J. (Gerald) Keeven, Benjamin W. Schuppan, Jeffrey (Susan) Ochs, Emilie A. (Steve) Hayes, and Resa M. (Rick) Osterholt; cherished grandfather of 20; treasured great-grandfather of 1; dear brother of Randall E. Schuppan; and brother-in-law of Bill (Mary) Schrader. Richard is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Martin J. Schuppan, Jr.
Richard obtained his Master’s and Doctorate degree at Saint Louis University in Educational Administration. He started his career working with Lutheran schools, Lindbergh School District, and then retired as Associate Superintendent of the Francis Howell School District. While at Francis Howell, he was an adjunct professor at St. Louis University, and after retirement was an affiliate associate professor at UMSL. Richard was a loyal Cardinals and Billikens fan and was a former Billiken Club member. He enjoyed camping, canoe trips, fishing, and traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed researching genealogy as his wife's "assistant." Richard was an accomplished organist, who had the opportunity to play at the St. Louis Cathedral. He was a member of the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance, which was part of the Clean Stream Conservation Program. Richard will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
