McCary, John M. “Jack”, of Saint Charles, MO, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the age of 98. Beloved husband of the late Till McCary; cherished son of the late Frederick Edward and Anna Elizabeth McCary (nee: Storms); devoted father of Peggy A. Andrews (the late Chuck E. Andrews), Pat Reed (the late Jack Reed), Jackie (Robert) Highfill, Kathy (Glenn) Schiller, Michael (Carla) McCary, Joe (Dawn) McCary, and the late Robert Nelson; loving grandfather of fifteen; treasured great-grandfather of nineteen; and cherished great-great-grandfather of ten. He was a beloved uncle and friend to many. He was also preceded in death by his grandchildren, Michael Fulcher and Kelly Marie Andrews.
He and his wife, Till, were the former owners of Till’s Food Shop in Harvester, MO. Retiring from Terminal Railroad in 1979 after 40 years, he became custodian for Zion Lutheran Church in Harvester, MO where he continued working until the time of his death. He was a member of the VFW Post #2866 of St. Charles, MO. Jack proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was awarded a Bronze Star for New Guinea campaign. He was also entitled to wear the Asiatic Campaign ribbon and six overseas bars. Jack was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.
