Doreen Francis Ponte

Ponte, Doreen Francis (nee: Powers) of St. Charles, MO, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the age of 91. Loving wife of Robert Oliver Ponte; cherished daughter of the late George Anthony and Rose Francis Powers; devoted mother of David (Brenda Earney) Vadnais, Patrick Vadnais, Christine Vadnais, Jean M. Johnson, Mark (Carol) Ponte, Michael (Denise) Ponte, Beth (Mike) Shupe, and the late Joel A. Wolter; loving grandmother of Kristopher (Marcie) Vadnais, Jonathan Vadnais, Darcey Vadnais, Dustin A. Johnson, Logan and Gabrielle Ponte, Brittany Simmons, Stephanie Wolter, and Steven Cunningham, Jr.; treasured great-grandmother of 6; and cherished sister of Dick (Karen) Powers, George (Gloria) Powers, Mary (Jack) Schaeffer, Renee (Bob) Kreitz, and Donna Almleaf. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Lois Gillen, Billy Powers, Kathy Powers, and Pat Gill.

Doreen volunteered at Birthright for 20 years. She was a member of Friends of Birthright. She also volunteered at St. Charles Community College Literacy Program, teaching others how to read and write. She was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew her.
