Ward, Carl W., of St. Charles, MO, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Harriet Ward (nee: Byrd); cherished son of the late Finis and Louise Ward; devoted father of Mark (Erin) Ward and Karen (David) Johnson; loving grandfather of Logan Sullivan and Hayden Sullivan; dear brother of Ron (Lynn) Ward, Jack (Donna) Ward, and the late William R. Ward; cherished uncle of Denise (Scott) Liebel, Scott (Michelle) Ward, Jackie (Sam) Schippers, Ronnie David Ward, Robin Jeans, Debbie (Kip) Schoenborn, David (Tamara) Birch, Amanda (Tony) Auger, Dawn (Bill) Knoderer, Shawn (Christy) Byrd, Jason (Keri) Byrd, Julie (Jamie) Banks, Sara (Luke) Poyner, Matthew (Connie) Cookman, and Jordan (Beth) Cookman; and treasured Godfather of Elizabeth (Kevin) Seibel. He is also survived by many other great-nieces, great-nephews, family, and dear friends.
Carl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. He then attended Southeast Missouri State University where he studied Math and Art, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1967. During his time at SEMO, he was an active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Carl worked for McDonnell Douglas for over 30 years where he held several titles, including Machinist, Manager of Systems Programming, and Systems Programmer before retiring early in 1994. He was the last surviving charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Carl was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.
